The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a pleasing 124-73-113 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose eight points to 602. Darren Bahrey's Strategx Elements Corp. (STGX) added three cents to 30 cents on 8,000 shares. Strategx, a critical metals explorer in Canada's North, is ramping up its promotion ahead of -- at least one hopes -- a more energetic exploration push this year.

The company has hired Investing News Network (INN) to "launch a series of advertising and investor awareness campaign events" for a 14-month period ending early next year. Mr. Bahrey, Strategx's president and chief executive officer, points out that INN does not provide investor relations or market making services -- if the modest price for its services, a bit less than $4,000 per month, did not already make that clear.

Strategx did generate a dollop of news for INN to advertise, just before the long Arctic winter enveloped its Nagvaak property on Melville peninsula in central Nunavut. Mr. Bahrey cheered that testing of core samples obtained years ago by BHP Billiton Inc. produced "a new discovery of energy transition minerals." The assays showed a 58-metre near-surface interval with 0.51 per cent vanadium oxide, 0.25 per cent nickel and a host of other metals that combine for a vanadium oxide equivalent of 1.24 per cent.
