New York spot gold regained $5.40 to $1,627.80 on Tuesday. The TSX-V recovered 6.52 points to 573.91 while the TSX gold index rose 1.21 points to 220.65. Several Canadian gold miners did better today. Victoria Gold Corp. (VGCX) rebounded 38 cents to $7.17 on 600,000 shares while Centerra Gold Inc. (CG) reclaimed 32 cents to $5.54 on 1.79 million shares. Others had lesser gains, and some did not do well at all: Atalaya Mining PLC (AYA) lost seven cents to $7.05 on 551,000 shares.
Victor Cantore and Jacques Trottier's Amex Exploration Inc. (AMX) did well, adding 17 cents to $1.77 on 188,000 shares on word of a new gold zone at its Perron project in the Abitibi district of Quebec. The assays from this new zone, called Team, included a 9.5-metre interval that averaged 10.05 grams of gold per tonne. Much of the gold came from two 0.5-metre-thick sections that averaged 80.24 and 53.22 grams per tonne respectively.
