OpenAI said it anticipate such attacks will increase as more cyber-capable models emerge. Powerful new AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic have raised global regulatory concerns about cybersecurity, affecting everything from critical infrastructure to financial system stability. OpenAI reported that an attack used a combination of its AI models, including GPT-5.6 Sol, during internal cybersecurity testing. The test was being conducted in what's known as a sandboxed environment -- one where code can be safely executed because it is walled off from broader networks.
