Dan Bilzerian, the former chairman of Ignite International Brands Ltd., has mostly dropped a case he had been pursuing in the Supreme Court of British Columbia over his ouster from the company. Mr. Bilzerian had complained that Ignite removed him as chairman in a "blatantly illegal corporate raid" orchestrated by shareholders. He had been seeking a court order that would reinstate him.
Mr. Bilzerian has not provided his reasons for dropping the case. He filed a brief notice of discontinuance at the Vancouver courthouse on Thursday, May 29, in which he simply said that he was no longer seeking court orders that would undo his termination as chairman. While those matters constituted nearly all of the case, the notice of discontinuance may not be the end of the case entirely, as Mr. Bilzerian is still asking for special costs and "Such other relief as this Honourable Court deems just and appropriate."
The case arose from Mr. Bilzerian's ouster as chairman in mid-2024. Prior to the dispute, Mr. Bilzerian was the public face of Ignite, promoting the stock through social media accounts that attracted an audience of millions, with most of them being young males. He regularly posted photos of fancy cars, private planes and women wearing company-branded bikinis. He used the account to market Ignite's products, which included vapes and clothing.
