BRS Resources appoints Vargas as head geologist

2026-10-29 19:20 ET - News Release

Mr. Byron Coulthard reports

BRS RESOURCES AND CANSON MINING GROUP APPOINT GEO. HUGO VARGAS AS HEAD GEOLOGIST AND HEAD OF MEXICO OPERATIONS; PROVIDES EXPLORATION & ASSAY UPDATE FOR LA GUADUPANA PROJECT

BRS Resources Ltd. and its Mexican division, Canson Mining Group SA de CV, have officially appointed seasoned economic geologist Geo Hugo Vargas as head geologist and head of Mexico operations, effective immediately. In his new executive operational role, Mr. Vargas will spearhead field execution, resource expansion and daily management across the district-scale La Guadalupana project in Yecora, Sonora, Mexico.

Expanding technical leadership: Hugo Vargas and Allan L. Schappert

Bringing over 24 years of extensive geological experience in mineral exploration and mine production throughout Mexico, Canada and the United States, Mr. Vargas joins BRS and Canson Mining with a stellar background spanning greenfield discovery to brownfield epithermal gold-silver production (including tenure with Alamos Gold, Kimber Resources and major regional operators).

Mr. Vargas will be working directly in close collaboration with Mr. Schappert, CPG, SME-RM, principal of ALS Geo Resources and lead qualified person for BRS. Mr. Schappert brings over 40 years of premier resource modelling, geostatistics and National Instrument 43-101/S-K 1300 compliance expertise -- recently recognized in the Maptek Vulcan Hall of Fame. The combination of Mr. Vargas's hands-on Mexican operational mastery and Mr. Schappert's world-class resource estimation capabilities establishes a formidable technical team driving BRS's exploration campaigns forward.

La Guadalupana project and continuing diamond drill sampling program

Concurrently, BRS and Canson Mining confirm that active surface and subsurface exploration continues at La Guadalupana project. The field team has executed continuing diamond core sampling utilizing its backpack-portable Shaw diamond core drill rig, extracting high-integrity 37-millimetre core samples across priority epithermal structures within its 947.7368-hectare concession block.

Fresh core samples from recent operational intervals have been meticulously logged, packaged and formally dispatched to Skyline Assays and Laboratories in Tucson, Ariz., for rigorous multielement geochemical analysis and fire assaying. Management anticipates receiving high-priority assay results shortly, which will inform its coming 3-D magnetic inversion models and maiden drill target optimization.

Executive commentary

Jason R. Hylton-Foster, vice-president of business development and investor relations at BRS Resources, stated: "Appointing Hugo Vargas to lead our Mexican operations alongside our qualified person, Allan Schappert, gives BRS an elite technical advantage in the Sierra Madre Occidental. With fresh diamond core samples currently undergoing assay at Skyline in Tucson and our district-scale epithermal targets shaping up rapidly, BRS is exceptionally well positioned to unlock major value. Today's questions, tomorrow's gold."
