CENTENARIO GOLD ANNOUNCES THE START UP OF IT'S MAIDEN DRILL PROGRAM AT THE LOS REYES COPPER, MOLY, GOLD SKARN SYSTEM
The
drill program on Centenario Gold Corp.'s Los
Reyes
project
is now under way. The Los Reyes project is a
highly
prospective copper and gold asset located near the city of Chihuahua, Mexico.
The Los Reyes project sits along a north-northwest regional mineralized corridor that hosts some of the most important historical mines in the state of Chihuahua, old mines such as Santa Eulalia (Grupo Mexico/IMMSA) and Naica (Penoles), skarn-type mineral deposits that have the same geological setting and similar style of mineralization found at Los Reyes.
This drill program is a follow-up to the first-phase exploration work that included mapping and sampling of the old mine dumps and underground workings over Los Reyes's El Rey concession. The exploration work was completed in May of this year (see news release dated June 10, 2026).
These exploration results, from surface and underground mapping and sampling, have enabled the company to better understand the orientation, extent and controls of the mineralized system at Los Reyes, facilitating the fine-tuning of the location, orientation and depth of the proposed drill holes.
This initial drilling program, which consists of five to six holes between 200 metres and 500 metres in depth, totalling approximately 1,500 metres, will focus on testing the greater-than-100-metre depth extensions of the high-grade copper-zinc-silver skarn zone that Asarco previously mined at the Jibosa shaft and the Tueda shaft zones. These drill targets are located along the north-south-trending mineralized skarn zone that has been recognized on the El Rey claim block.
The underground rock sampling at the Jibosa shaft zone, located 200 metres south of the Tueda shaft zone, returned significant copper values, up to 27.9 per cent copper, a 1.3-metre-wide, high-grade sample taken across a fracture zone, 20 metres underground (see news release dated June 10th, 2026). The Jibosa shaft target appears to be the upper/outer portion of a semi-vertical, copper-rich skarn zone potentially extending to significant depth. The continuing drilling program is especially designed to test this extension.
Based on the extent of the mine workings and the underground rock samples results obtained from the Tueda shaft zone, which contains anomalous gold and significant molybdenum values up to 2.1 per cent (see news release dated June 10, 2026), it is the company's understanding that the mineralized system at the Tueda shaft zone, although a bit different than the one seen at the Jibosa shaft zone, is lower down in the system. The continuing drilling program is also designed to test this extension further at depth.
