EASTWOOD BIO-MEDICAL CANADA ANNOUNCES JOINT RESEARCH AGREEMENT WITH BIONEXUS TO APPLY AI TO HERBAL INGREDIENT PRESCRIPTION DATA

Eastwood Bio-Medical Canada Inc. signed a joint research agreement with BioNexus Inc. on June 30, 2026, to build a platform that applies artificial intelligence to herbal ingredient prescription data to identify natural drug and functional food product candidates.

BioNexus (chief executive officer: Tae-Hyung Kim) is an artificial intelligence biodata company based in Suwon, South Korea.

Under the agreement, BioNexus will apply its AI tools to data sets of herbal ingredient prescription records collected by Eastwood and its affiliates, which the companies describe as largely non-digitized and not present in existing databases. The work will begin with a proof-of-concept study on about 250,000 prescriptions related to blood glucose health, testing whether the data can be analyzed by AI and whether candidate ingredients or combinations can be derived and assessed against external scientific literature. The companies said the data will be jointly owned.

The company also announces that Ian Mallmann resigned from the company's board of directors, and the company thanks him for his contributions.
