The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Sept. 25, edition that TD Cowen analyst Brian Morrison continues to rate Gildan Activewear "buy." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Morrison slashed his share target by $26 to $54, matching the consensus (all figures U.S.). The Globe says Mr. Morrison sees "macro conditions pressuring consumer demand." Mr. Morrison says in a note: "As bond yields/gas prices escalate, we revisited our industry channel checks and concluded that industry demand across both the activewear/retail channels appears to have softened since Gildan's Q2/26 release. With the potential impact being more pronounced on the lower-to-middle income consumer deferring discretionary spend, we are lowering our financial forecasts and target multiple/price." The Globe reported on Oct. 28 that RBC Capital Markets analyst Ryland Conrad was keeping his "outperform" ranking for Gildan Activewear intact. The shares were then going for $61.26. The Globe reported on Jan. 28 that Mr. Morrison had reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for Gildan, which was then going for $68.01.
