Canada Goose publishes 2026 impact report

2026-07-20 20:22 ET - News Release

Ms. Carrie Baker reports

CANADA GOOSE MARKS 50% REDUCTION IN OPERATIONAL EMISSIONS AS IT SETS THE COURSE FOR ITS NEXT SUSTAINABILITY CHAPTER

Canada Goose Holdings Inc. has reached several significant sustainability milestones, including a 50-per-cent reduction in market-based scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from its FY (fiscal year) 2019 baseline, SBTi-approved (science-based targets initiative) climate targets and 100-per-cent diversion of postconsumer global warranty waste from landfill in FY 2026. These achievements reflect five years of progress, marking the completion of the company's first sustainability strategy and the beginning of its next chapter.

Released today, the company's FY 2026 impact report documents these achievements while reflecting on the completion of its first five-year sustainability strategy and outlining the priorities that will guide its next chapter. Building on the foundations established over the past five years, Canada Goose is entering this next phase with a clearer understanding of where it can create the greatest impact, supported by stronger data, enhanced insights and a comprehensive sustainability risk assessment that will help inform future priorities across the business.

Grounded in its purpose to embolden explorers and preserve the planet they roam, the company's continued sustainability progress includes:

  • Facing a changing climate: SBTi approval of Canada Goose's near-term and net zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, alongside a 50-per-cent reduction in market-based scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from the FY 2019 baseline, driven by manufacturing facility electrification and renewable electricity;
  • Designing for generations: 100 per cent of postconsumer global warranty waste diverted from landfill in FY 2026, up from 78 per cent in FY 2020, while more than 19,000 products were recirculated through Canada Goose Generations, extending product life through resale and repair;
  • Sourcing with care: 91 per cent of materials purchased for domestic manufacturing classified as preferred fibres and materials (PFMs), up from 21 per cent in FY 2021; 89 per cent of fabrics bluesign approved, up from 45 per cent in FY 2021; and 81 per cent of Tier 1 suppliers participating in the company's social compliance program, up from 46 per cent in FY 2020;
  • Strengthening data and transparency: product life cycle assessments completed across all global products manufactured in FY 2026, alongside primary data collection, representing 65-per-cent primary data coverage for scope 3 emissions from global transportation, strengthening greenhouse gas accounting and informing Canada Goose's climate strategy;
  • Stewarding nature: continued investment in long-term conservation initiatives, including $8-million donated to Polar Bears International since 2007.

As Canada Goose enters its next sustainability chapter, the company will focus on continuing to strengthen climate action, advance circularity, deepen supply chain transparency and use an increasingly robust understanding of its impacts to help guide future priorities across its business and value chain.

"Five years ago, we set our sights on building the foundation for how sustainability is embedded across our business. The next phase is about sharpening our focus," said Carrie Baker, president, brand and commercial, at Canada Goose. "We've made meaningful progress, from reducing operational emissions and advancing circularity to strengthening responsible sourcing, and now have a clearer understanding of where our efforts can make the greatest environmental and social impact. As we look ahead, that understanding will continue to shape how we operate, innovate and grow responsibly."

The FY 2026 impact report and accompanying ESG (environmental, social and governance) deep dive provide additional detail on the progress highlighted above, along with the priorities that will guide Canada Goose's next sustainability chapter across its six sustainability pillars.
