The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday, June 4, edition that Indigo Books & Music has announced that Trilogy Investments LP has acquired all of the retailer's outstanding shares. A Canadian Press dispatch to the Post reports that the Toronto-based book chain stated that the share purchase signifies the finalization of its agreement with the private holding company owned by Gerald Schwartz, the husband of Indigo founder and chief executive officer Heather Reisman. As a result of the deal, Indigo's shares will be removed from the Toronto Stock Exchange and the retailer will be exempt from its public reporting requirements. The completion of the deal comes shortly after shareholders approved the $2.50 per share transaction. Initially, Trilogy offered $2.25 a share but raised its bid in April. Indigo has been pursuing a business turnaround since last year, dealing with a series of leadership and board changes and also a cyberattack that led to the prolonged outage of its website.
