The Ontario Securities Commission has deemed on-line stock tout Jack Marks, author of intentionally provocative and abusive material, to be unsuitable for affiliation with a Canadian Securities Exchange listing. In making the finding, the OSC reviewed Mr. Marks's "extreme, unquestionably aggressive and juvenile" social media materials. Among the examples cited was a posting that read, "Hopefully Putin invades Canada soon and De-Nazifies this shithole country run by a cabal of pedophiles."
The finding is contained in a decision that the OSC released on Monday, Aug. 31. It applies to Mr. Marks, who is also known as Jacob Marks and Jacob Mestechkin. He controls and publishes the Wall Street Reporter, a website that holds itself out as a news publication.
The case arises from an attempt by CSE listing New World Solutions Inc. to appoint Mr. Marks as its chairman. The company, which touts itself as developing a "blockchain-powered digital ecosystem that integrates content, e-commerce and community," made the appointment after acquiring a private entity associated with Mr. Marks. He holds about 22 per cent of New World's shares.
