The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, June 2, edition that Nvidia has become the world's most valuable company by selling artificial intelligence chips for large data centres and is now expanding into home technology. A New York Times dispatch to The Globe reports that Nvidia announced the new RTX Spark chip, set to power laptops and desktops from Dell, HP, Microsoft, Lenovo and others this fall. These computers will run local AI systems for better file management with enhanced privacy and security. This move follows other tech companies, like Microsoft and Qualcomm, which launched the Copilot+ PC to enhance document searching and photo editing. Nvidia is timing its computer release with the rise of AI assistants, or agents. The company is collaborating with Microsoft and laptop manufacturers to enable these agents to navigate PCs autonomously, operating the mouse and keyboard like a user. The PC chip headlined a two-hour showcase of Nvidia's AI products at a computer and electronics conference in Taipei, Taiwan. Nvidia also announced a collaboration on a new robot with a Chinese company, Unitree Robotics, and a new software system to help customers manage its chips in data centres.
