Liberty Defense sets up Hexwave at Palm Springs airport

2025-07-15 18:55 ET - News Release

Mr. Bill Frain reports

LIBERTY DEFENSE'S NEXTGEN SECURITY TAKES OFF AT PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. has launched its next-generation Hexwave system at the Palm Spring International Airport (PSP) to screen aviation workers for metallic and non-metallic threats. This technology satisfies a new TSA mandate on airport employee screening. PSP and Liberty Defense are raising the bar for aviation security as this new requirement comes closer to becoming mandatory for approximately 175 United States airports.

The TSA mandate (TSA-NA-32-02), introduced in 2023 and set to be fully enforced by April, 2026, requires United States airports to implement employee screening procedures capable of detecting explosive threats for employees accessing secure areas. PSP selected Liberty's Hexwave system in January, 2025, as the airport continues to lead the industry in meeting this important federal security directive. Hexwave is deployed with the help of Veterans High Risk Security Solutions, a California-certified small business that is veteran owned and operated.

"Launching at Palm Springs International Airport is a significant milestone for Liberty as demand grows for pro-active, AI-driven security screening solutions," said Bill Frain, chief executive officer of Liberty Defense. "This partnership highlights the critical importance of advanced threat detection in today's evolving security landscape. By deploying Hexwave, PSP will more than satisfy the TSA's mandate and set a new standard for how airports protect employees with minimal disruption to operations and employees' work routines."

Hexwave, made in the United States, uses proprietary AI and 3-D-radar imaging to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threats, including liquid, powder and plastic explosives, 3-D-printed "ghost guns," and other non-traditional weapons that conventional metal detectors often miss. The system delivers fast, contactless, high-throughput screening through a walkthrough portal -- no stopping for individuals being screened -- minimizing disruption while maximizing security. To protect privacy, Hexwave does not save images and security personnel see only a generic silhouette with possible threat areas identified.

"Airports are on the front lines of U.S. national security and the safety of our people in a constantly evolving security environment where insider risks are among the most challenging threats," said Bryan Cunningham, president of Liberty Defense, global security expert, and former White House lawyer and CIA officer. "With Hexwave, PSP adds a cutting-edge layer of protection to safeguard both employees and travelers. This isn't just about a mandate, it's about setting a new benchmark for employee and passenger security, employee convenience, and operational effectiveness. Whomever the bad actors and whatever the attack vectors, Hexwave, with our constantly updated AI analytics, is the last line of defence against today's threats and is 'future proofed' against current and emerging security risks of all kinds."

For PSP, the decision to move early on the TSA requirements reflects the airport's broader commitment to innovation and safety.

"Palm Springs Airport prides itself on being on the leading-edge for security and technology and is excited to be going live with Hexwave's advanced screening technology," said Harry Barrett, executive director at Palm Springs International Airport. "This partnership allows us to lead by example, both meeting the new TSA mandate and significantly enhancing the safety and security of our team and the traveling public."

Liberty Defense continues to work with airports, stadiums, government facilities, religious, educational, and other public gathering spaces and critical infrastructure sites across North America and abroad to modernize screening processes and address rapidly evolving security threats.
