The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Jan. 16, edition that CIBC World Markets analyst Hamir Patel continues to rate Stella-Jones "outperformer." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Patel boosted his share target by $3 to $86. Analysts on average target the shares at $86. Mr. Patel says in a note: "While we have been on the sidelines on Stella-Jones since July 19, 2023, we see an attractive entry point emerging, with guidance having been reset post Q3 results (shares down 23 per cent since then), our belief that producers can hold on to pole price gains accrued since 2021, and Sella-Jones trading at 8.6 times forward EBITDA (below its 11.25 times five-year average). At the same time, we expect the company to see stronger near-term pole volumes as it will likely be called upon to meet reconstruction-related demand following the ongoing wildfires in California. We believe the major utilities in California (PG&E and SoCal Edison) are some of Stella-Jones's largest customers." The Globe reported on Aug. 16, 2023, and April 12, 2024, that Mr. Patel rated Stella-Jones "neutral" and then "outperformer." The shares could then be had for $63.81 and $79.60.
