Globe/CP say South Bow poised to make pipeline decision

The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Aug. 7, edition that South Bow aims to make a final investment decision on its Prairie Connector project by mid-next year after securing shipper commitments. A Canadian Press dispatch to The Globe reports that the project will transport oil sands crude to the Canada-United States border, similar to the failed Keystone XL expansion. South Bow chief executive officer Bevin Wirzba says, "Achieving commercial success has enabled us to move into the next phase of development as we advance the work required to support a final investment decision, which we are targeting for mid-2027." The Prairie Connector project may utilize dormant pipe from the canceled Keystone XL expansion, which faced significant environmental and political opposition. TC Energy pursued Keystone XL before spinning off its oil pipeline business to create South Bow in 2024. President Donald Trump has granted a permit to a separate proposal by Bridger Pipeline linking Wyoming to the Canada-U.S. border. That pipeline could link up with Prairie Connector. South Bow has secured 20-year commitments from nine customers, totaling 465,000 barrels a day.
