Trailbreaker receives permit for Liberty Cu-Mo drilling

2026-08-24 17:23 ET - News Release

Mr. Daithi Mac Gearailt reports

TRAILBREAKER RECEIVES ADVANCED EXPLORATION PERMIT FOR LIBERTY COPPER-MOLYBDENUM PROJECT, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Trailbreaker Resources Ltd. has received a property-wide exploration permit for its 6,895-hectare Liberty property, located in central British Columbia (B.C.), Canada.

The Liberty property is a drill-ready copper-molybdenum (Cu-Mo) porphyry target situated 60 kilometres northwest of Quesnel, B.C

A five-year Multi-Year Area-Based (MYAB) Mines Act permit has been approved by the B.C. Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals with a provisional expiry date of July 23, 2031.

Approved exploration activities

  • Diamond drilling, based from up to 50 drill pads;
  • Construction of temporary work-related structures such as core storage and drill lay-down areas;
  • Construction/modification of exploration access trails (up to 17 kilometres).

Daithi Mac Gearailt, chief executive officer of Trailbreaker, commented: "Receiving this advanced exploration permit is a key milestone for the Liberty property. We're excited to move forward with testing what we view as a robust geophysical target within a proven Cu-Mo porphyry district alongside deposits including the Gibraltar mine. This permit allows us to advance a more aggressive exploration program, and we look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to unlock the potential of our project portfolio."

About the Liberty property

The 6,895-hectare Liberty property is located approximately 60 km northwest of Quesnel, B.C., and 90 km southwest of Prince George, B.C. The property is fully accessible by resource roads. The Liberty property is located within the Traditional Territory of the Nazko First Nation, with whom Trailbreaker is committed to engagement and to building a working relationship.

The Liberty property is situated within the Cache Creek terrane, which hosts multiple Cu-Mo porphyry deposits, including Trekor's (formerly Taseko) Gibraltar mine, which is the second-largest open-pit copper mine in Canada. Located 110 km southeast of the Liberty property, the Gibraltar mine has proven and probable sulphide facies reserves of 532 million tonnes grading 0.25 per cent Cu with a cut-off grade of 0.15 per cent Cu. Proven and probably oxide facies reserves are 20 million tonnes grading 0.17 per cent Cu with a cut-off grade of 0.10 per cent Cu.

Trailbreaker's 2024 drill program at Liberty encountered widespread Cu-Mo porphyry-style mineralization at the northeastern margin of a large Cu-in-soil geochemical anomaly. Drilling returned numerous approximately 200-plus m intervals of low-grade Cu-Mo mineralization (that is, 213.7 m of 0.07 per cent Cu, 141 ppm Mo in LIB24-001) punctuated by higher-grade mineralization (that is, 34.2 m of 0.18 per cent Cu, 428 ppm Mo, in turn including 5.9 m of 0.69 per cent Cu, 1,994 ppm Mo in LIB24-003) (see July 22, 2024, news release). Mineralization is coincident with an induced polarization (IP) chargeability feature and is hosted in porphyritic granodiorite.

Soil sampling in 2024 defined a property-scale (approximately 10 km in length and up to 1.8 km wide) arc-shaped, Cu-in-soil anomaly. Prospecting within the southwestern portion of the geochemical anomaly has defined an area of high-grade copper mineralization, with grab samples assaying up to 23.71 per cent Cu (see Sept. 16, 2024, news release). This high-grade copper mineralization is interpreted to be genetically related to a large Cu-Mo porphyry mineralization system.

Drill targeting at Liberty

Future drill targets at Liberty have been determined from the results of the 2024 IP survey, the 2024 airborne ZTEM (Z-axis tipper electromagnetic) survey and the surface geochemical surveys (see Jan. 13, 2025, news release).
