VICTORIA, British Columbia -- (Business Wire)
Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM) today announced that Canadian telecommunications leader, Videotron, has selected Vecima’s Entra® Virtualized Cable Modem Termination System (vCMTS), EN9000 Generic Access Platform (GAP) Node, and ERM3 series Remote PHY Devices (RPDs) to support the evolution of its next-generation DOCSIS network.
This selection reflects Videotron’s commitment to delivering high-performance broadband services and accelerating its transition toward cloud-native, software-defined network architectures. With Vecima’s Entra vCMTS, Videotron will benefit from enhanced scalability, automation, and operational efficiency as it continues to expand multi-gigabit connectivity for residential and business subscribers. With Vecima’s field-proven EN9000 node and ERM3 RPDs, Videotron leverages Vecima’s deep, long-standing experience with multiple industry-leading cable operators.
The Entra vCMTS features an open, cloud-native architecture that is fully containerized and dynamically scalable. By integrating both Application Programming Interface (API) and Command-Line Interface (CLI) capabilities, the platform serves as a workforce multiplier, enabling a seamless transition from legacy platforms to a highly automated and reliable virtual DOCSIS environment. Built on Vecima’s industry-leading DOCSIS technology, Entra vCMTS provides the performance and flexibility required for DOCSIS 3.1+, Unified DOCSIS, and DOCSIS 4.0 deployments.
“Choosing a partner for our DOCSIS evolution wasn't only about the technology — it was about trust earned over years of working together,” said Juan Ramos, Vice President, Wireline Networks at Videotron. “Videotron is committed to delivering best-in-class connectivity experiences to our customers through continuous innovation and investment in our network. Vecima’s Entra vCMTS provides the scalability, flexibility, and performance we require to support the evolution of our DOCSIS infrastructure and deliver next-generation broadband services.”
“Videotron is known as one of the industry’s most technically rigorous and advanced broadband operators,” said Clay McCreery, Chief Operating Officer at Vecima. “Their decision to deploy our Entra vCMTS, GAP nodes, and RPDs follows a decades-long partnership with us. We are proud to support Videotron as they continue to deliver industry-leading broadband experiences to customers across Canada.”
The Videotron deployment further strengthens Vecima’s position in the rapidly expanding global vCMTS market, which Dell’Oro Group estimates will grow to more than US$345 million annually by 2030, as operators accelerate the adoption of virtualized and cloud-native broadband infrastructure.
