Mr. Steve Jukes reports
WALHALLA GOLD APPOINTS LISA GIBBONS TO BOARD, STRENGTHENING DISCOVERY AND PERMITTING EXPERTISE
Walhalla Gold Corp. has appointed Lisa Gibbons to its board of directors. Ms. Gibbons joins as the company finalizes its district discovery strategy for the Walhalla gold project in Victoria, Australia, and prepares to move from planning to permitting and field activities.
Ms. Gibbons is a geologist with more than 35 years of experience across exploration, permitting, and stakeholder engagement in gold and critical minerals. She was most recently general manager and then head of community and external affairs at Southern Cross Gold Consolidated Ltd., where she was a key member of the team that grew the company from junior explorer to a multibillion-dollar dual-listed developer. At Sunday Creek, Ms. Gibbons was closely involved in the early years of discovery and resource definition, and led permitting for exploration and the exploration decline within Victoria's approvals framework. She also supported continuous disclosure and governance across the Australian Securities Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange, including the company's move to the TSX main board, and built the government and investor relationships that supported its capital raising.
Earlier in her career at Normandy Mining, Ms. Gibbons was a member of the exploration teams behind the Oberon, Hyperion and Groundrush orogenic gold discoveries in the Tanami, and she was also involved in the discovery of McPhillamys in New South Wales. This work gives her strong grounding in orogenic gold systems, target generation and resource definition, directly relevant to Walhalla's district discovery strategy. Ms. Gibbons is a fellow of the AusIMM and holds a bachelor of applied science (geology, honours).
Ms. Gibbons has developed first nations engagement strategies and negotiated agreements with traditional owner groups across several regions of Australia. She currently chairs the MCA Victoria Exploration Working Group, contributes to committees supporting industry and government dialogue, and was a 2022 winner of the Exceptional Woman in Victorian Resources Award.
Steve Jukes, chief executive officer and director, commented:
"Walhalla is entering the phase where discovery, permitting and community relationships all have to come together, and Lisa has worked at that intersection so successfully through her career. Through her significant contribution at Southern Cross Gold, Lisa has developed the expertise to advance a Victorian gold project from early discovery through to permitting and field activities and how to build strong relationships with communities, government and investors. Our ambition is to grow Walhalla from explorer to developer, and Lisa has demonstrated her ability to deliver on that ambition before. With her appointment, our board is now at full strength, bringing together complementary technical, financial, governance, stakeholder and commercial skills. I'm delighted to welcome Lisa to the Walhalla team."
About the Walhalla gold project
The company owns the Walhalla gold project, located in the state of Victoria, which is a district-scale project consisting of 1,230 square km of concessions. Cohen's Reef is one of the largest and most productive gold-bearing quartz reefs ever discovered in Victoria and the company's early exploration will target the identification of potential repeat structures nearby old developments. In addition to multiple areas with past historic production such as Cohen's Reef, the Walhalla gold project contains high-priority greenfield targets such as Pinnacles where extensive soil geochemistry has highlighted a 400 m by 1,100 m gold mineralized aplitic dike, which contains disseminated sulphides and outcrops at surface. The Pinnacles target is fully permitted, accessible and ready for immediate drilling.
