Mr. Mamadou Coulibaly reports
WARABA GOLD APPOINTS GLOBALLY RECOGNISED GEOLOGIST GERNOT WOBER, FORMER VP EXPLORATION AT OSISKO MINING, AS TECHNICAL ADVISOR
Waraba Gold Ltd. has appointed Gernot Wober, PGeo, as technical adviser to the company, effective immediately. Mr. Wober's appointment adds world-class discovery experience to Waraba's technical team as the company advances its West African exploration portfolio and its vision to build a leading portfolio of high-value gold assets. Mr. Wober will also join the company's technical committee.
Mr. Wober is a highly accomplished geologist with more than 35 years of international experience in mineral exploration and project development. His technical expertise spans a wide range of deposit types, including orogenic gold systems, greenstone-hosted deposits, epithermal polymetallic vein systems, and porphyry-related silver, copper and gold deposits. He has a strong record of discovery, resource growth and technical leadership.
As vice-president, exploration, Canada, at Osisko Mining Inc., Mr. Wober led exploration activities at the Windfall gold project and was instrumental in the discovery of the high-grade Lynx zone. As vice-president, exploration, at Discovery Silver Corp., he played a key role in identifying and acquiring the Cordero silver deposit in Chihuahua, Mexico. Cordero was advanced from resource stage through feasibility to become one of the largest undeveloped silver projects globally. Most recently, Mr. Wober served as vice-president, exploration, at First Nordic Metals Corp., now Goldsky Resources Corp.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wober served as vice-president, exploration, at Great Basin Gold Ltd., based in Johannesburg, South Africa, as director of site operations at the Pebble project in Alaska and as vice-president, exploration, at Oban Mining Corp. He also held technical positions with Lac Minerals Ltd., Noranda Exploration Company Ltd., Taseko Mines Ltd. and Chevron Canada Resources Ltd. He holds a BSc in geology from the University of British Columbia.
Commenting on Mr. Wober's appointment, Carl Esprey, executive chairman, Waraba Gold, stated: "Gernot has a proven record of turning early-stage targets into significant discoveries, most notably the Lynx zone at Windfall. His experience with orogenic and greenstone-hosted gold systems is directly relevant to the Birimian terrain we are exploring in Cote d'Ivoire. He is a strong addition to our team as we move toward our first drill programs."
Mr. Wober's appointment comes as Waraba advances its two flagship projects in Ivory Coast. At Tengrela, trenching and auger work at the Fetiko target, announced on Sept. 24, 2026, confirmed in situ gold mineralization within a gold-in-saprolite corridor of approximately 1.9 kilometres. A first-pass reverse circulation drill program is being designed. At Sirasso, in the Senoufo greenstone belt, the company is preparing to follow up north-northeast-trending structures with modern exploration methods.
"Waraba has assembled district-scale land positions in one of the most prospective and underexplored parts of the Birimian gold belt, backed by a team with genuine in-country expertise. Tengrela and Sirasso sit in the kind of orogenic gold setting I have worked in throughout my career, and the early results at Fetiko give the team a clear first target to test. I look forward to supporting the technical team as it designs and executes its drill programs and advances these projects toward discovery,"
said Mr. Wober, technical adviser to Waraba Gold.
Commenting further, Mamadou Coulibaly, chief executive officer of Waraba Gold, stated: "Gernot's appointment strengthens our technical leadership at a pivotal moment for the company. His experience in target generation, drill program design and resource growth will be invaluable as we rank our targets, test them with the drill bit and build the data needed to advance toward resource definition."
