Globe says buy iShares MSCI Europe ETF for Euro upside

The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday edition that economist David Rosenberg thinks investors should try to track the MSCI global equal-weight index as an antidote to a small Canadian market and an overconcentrated American one. The Globe's Andrew Galbraith writes that the best proxy for a global MSCI equal weight index, he said, might be to buy an exchange-traded fund tracking the MSCI European stock index. Europe doesn't have much in the way of exposure to artificial intelligence and added that there are "fiscal and economic tailwinds in Europe right now that are not fully priced in, unlike the United States." His comments follow a recent report, The Bull Case for Europe, in which Mr. Rosenberg argued that the continent offers North American investors "a market in better balance, decent valuations where you get paid to take on equity risk, and less concentration risk -- set at a relative valuation discount." Consider the iShares MSCI Europe IMI Index ETFs, which are available in unhedged (XEU) and Canadian dollar-hedged (XEH) flavours, and track the MSCI Europe Investable Market Index, which covers large, mid-cap and small-cap stocks. Vanguard's FTSE Developed Europe All Cap Index ETF (VE) is another possibility.
