The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a weak 62-98-150 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell six points to 613. The share price of Ewan Mason's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) continues to moulder away in the absence of news, although today the stock lifted itself above its all-time low of 3.5 cents, ending the day up one-half cent to four cents on 152,000 shares.
Jonathan Evans's Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC) jumped 54 cents to $6.31 on 7.86 million shares Tuesday, following word that the U.S. Department of Energy has loaned the company $2.26-billion (U.S.) for construction of the company's lithium production facility at Thacker Pass in northern Nevada. The loan, the company says, will "help finance the construction," although construction has been under way for over a year. (Adding more muddle to the situation, the company says that a "final investment decision" and the issuance of a "full notice to proceed" are expected before the end of the year.)
