The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a bleak 47-109-154 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell 19 points to 594. Things are heating up for Bryce Crocker's Jervois Global Ltd. (JRV) -- just not in the way the company had hoped. On Friday, Mr. Crocker, chief executive officer, said that Jervois had received two notices from a group of shareholders that essentially mark the launch of a dissident bid for control. (Jervois Global, last traded at one cent, has been halted since the end of December following word the company is looking to recapitalize.)
The first notice requests the company call a general meeting at which shareholders would consider amending the company's constitution to allow shareholders a greater voice. Those present at the meeting would also consider a dissident resolution that Jervois halt its recapitalization program and its move to bankruptcy. The second notice carries on in that theme, requesting the removal of Mr. Crocker, Peter Johnson and Brian Kennedy from the company's board. If that succeeds, Jervois would be left with three directors: Michael Callaghan, David Issroff and Dr. Daniela Chimisso dos Santos.
