The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a positive 83-68-159 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose five points to 643. Dermot Desmond and Mark Wall's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) continues to tread water in choppy financial seas, losing one cent to 6.5 cents on 248,000 shares today. The company's stock is hovering just above its all-time low of five cents as worries about its financial future persist.

There was some good news late last week for Mountain Province, however, as the company cheered that it closed the refinancing transactions it had proposed a month ago. And so, with no time for the ink to dry on the paperwork, Mountain Province dashed off a request for a $20-million (U.S.) drawdown on a spanking new bridge credit facility arranged with its busy-as-ever white knight -- Mr. Desmond's Dunebridge Worldwide Ltd. (Beige might be a better descriptor -- Dunebridge does do well by itself with the deals, after all.)
