The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a positive 78-66-166 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose nine points to 717. Four long years have passed since Tom MacNeill's 49 North Resources Inc. (FNR) last traded at a dime, and its stock has been flatlined for the past decade thanks to its underperforming portfolio of investments. One of the company's most dogged holdings has been a position in Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM), but it appears that it may be throwing in the towel on Saskatchewan diamonds.

At the end of March, 49 North held $62,000 worth of Star Diamond shares. At Star's seven-cent close on the last day of March, that translates to just 885,000 shares. Three months earlier, the company owned over 1.5 million Star Diamond shares, but they were worth just $39,000, thanks to Star's lowly 2.5-cent close at that time. For the past decade, 49 North had been tenaciously holding between 3.5 million and four million Star Diamond shares through thick and thin.
