The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score was a positive 106-70-134 on Wednesday as the TSX Venture Exchange rose 21 points to 1,087. Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC) did well today, adding nine cents to $6.97 on 3.01 million shares in silence. Sigma Lithium Corp. (SGML) did better, leaping $5.02 to $22.40 on 497,000 shares, also on the quiet. Pan American energy Corp. (PNRG), on the other hand, slid 11 cents to 54 cents on 163,000 shares. It, too, was one of the silent types -- just not a strong one.

Makko DeFilippo's Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) jumped $3.24 to $45.90 on 2.21 million shares Tuesday on word of an "inaugural" -- far from the final answer in other words -- preliminary economic assessment for its Furnas copper project in Para, Brazil. The dream sheet is based on 275.6 million tonnes indicated at 0.59 per cent copper, along with 0.31 gram of gold and 1.66 grams of silver per tonne, plus another 196 million tonnes inferred at slightly lower grades. In all, the estimate credits Furnas with 2.63 million tonnes of copper, over 4.7 million ounces of gold and 23.2 million ounces of silver.
