The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a ho-hum 85-80-145 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose two points to 927. Christopher Anderson's Great Atlantic Resources Corp. (GR), down one-half cent to seven cents on 4,000 shares, is applauding an 18.45-metre near-surface zone grading 1.14 per cent copper and 2.42 per cent zinc, along with 0.32 gram of gold and 16.74 grams of silver per tonne, drilled at the Pilley's Island project in north-central Newfoundland. The hole encountered a deeper, second mineralized lens, which returned 0.91 per cent copper and 2.37 per cent zinc, along with 1.63 grams of gold and 29.3 grams of silver per tonne.

Mind you, Great Atlantic is cheering more for nostalgia than its own financial advantage, as the drilling is being completed by Nicholas Rodway's HM Exploration Corp. (HM). HM, which jumped four cents to 57 cents on 31,000 shares on its assays Tuesday, acquired an option allowing it to earn a 100-per-cent interest in the property from Great Atlantic, in exchange for 6.3 million shares and $3.5-million in exploration over a five-year period.
