The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a mediocre 78-102-130 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell six points to 982. Rob Shewchuk's LithiumBank Resources Corp. (LBNK), which jumped eight cents to 70 cents on 680,000 shares Friday, added another five cents today, closing at 75 cents on 1.01 million shares. The company has sold 9.21 million shares at 60 cents, raising $5.52-million. It had been offering 9.2 million shares but sold an additional 207,000 shares because of "strong investor demand."

A promoter's claim of strong investor demand is usually akin to a deadbeat customer claiming that "the cheque is in the mail," but in this case the placement closed just a day after it was revealed. In any case, Mr. Shewchuk, chief executive officer, cheers that the new cash will be put toward completing a feasibility study of its Boardwalk lithium brine project in northwestern Alberta and for general working capital.
