The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a weak 66-93-161 as the TSX Venture Exchange lost nine points to 867. Jeff Swinoga and Simon Thibault's Scandium Canada Ltd. (SCD) fell one-half cent to 17.5 cents on 1.01 million shares. The company cheers that it has found more scandium beyond the current resource defined at its Crater Lake project, northeast of Schefferville in the Nunavik district of Quebec.
A hole drilled north of the main deposit has returned a 150-metre interval grading 292 grams of scandium oxide per tonne, including a 92.9-metre stretch that ran 344.5 grams per tonne. That was in Zone 3, the deepest of three zones encountered. A 9.5-metre near-surface intercept returned 285.8 grams of scandium oxide per tonne, and not much deeper, a 7.5-metre hit in Zone 2 ran 170 grams per tonne.
Mr. Thibault, president and chief executive officer since late August, applauded the initial assays. As projected, he and his crew "continue to receive very interesting and consistent assay results" from the project. They were "especially pleased" with this first hole from the northern extension zone, as it suggests the mineralization could now extend at least 335 metres beyond the 2025 resource estimate.
