The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a mediocre 72-81-167 as the TSX Venture Exchange dipped one point to 820. Ian McDonald and Paul Parisotto's Moon River Moly Ltd. (MOO) jumped eight cents to 68 cents on 357,000 shares on an otherwise terrible Thursday. The stock was one of a few bulls not to wave angry red capes at market matadors, thanks to its release of a "robust updated preliminary economic assessment" of its Davidson tungsten, copper and molybdenum project in northwestern British Columbia. (Moon River added another six cents to 74 cents on 198,000 shares today.)

The dream sheet is based on 80.76 million tonnes measured and indicated grading -- get out your microscopes -- 0.036 per cent tungsten oxide, 0.182 per cent molybdenum and 0.037 per cent copper, with a further 2.44 million tonnes inferred at lesser grades. (Yes, that molybdenum grade can be seen at a promotable distance.) In all, the resource tallies to 151 million kilograms of molybdenum, and nearly 30 million kilograms each of tungsten oxide and copper.
