New York spot gold fell $14.80 to $2,066.30 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange slipped 4.92 points to 556.37 while the TSX gold index lost 7.26 points to 285.14. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved lower today. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) fell 12 cents to $3.36 on 1.33 million shares and Argonaut Gold Inc. (AR) kept it company, dropping 1.5 cents to 45.5 cents on 3.71 million shares. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) was more energetic in retreat, dropping 86 cents to $14.83 on 353,000 shares.
Andrew Pollard's Blackrock Silver Corp. (BRC) rose one-half cent to 30 cents on 380,000 shares. "Blue skies ahead!" trumpeted Mr. Pollard, president and chief executive officer, in concluding his rambling but cheerful annual letter to shareholders. While it falls far short of the import of the King's Christmas message or Pope Francis's Urbi et Orbi -- for the city and for the world -- Christmastime epistle, Mr. Pollard does offer prophecies of exploration to come amid his lengthy summary of a "pivotal 2023."
