New York spot gold fell $5.10 to $2,023.70 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.49 point to 554.91 while the TSX gold index dropped 0.97 point to 270.05. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG), which late yesterday pegged its 2023 production at nearly 454,000 ounces of gold, hitting its guidance on the nose, jumped 81 cents to $14.87 on 343,000 shares today. Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG) went the other way, falling 16 cents to $6.34 on 196,000 shares.
Collin Kettell and Denis Laviolette's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) rose five cents to $4.61 on 223,000 shares on a new gold discovery at its Queensway property in north-central Newfoundland. The new area, called Honeypot, lies just east of the southwest-to-northeast Appleton Fault zone and immediately north of an earlier discovery, dubbed Jackpot. Honeypot is about one kilometre north-northeast of the Lotto zone, one of three mineralized areas that produced a series of three-digit grades over two-digit intervals in the heyday of the Queensway promotion during the spring and summer of 2021.
