New York spot gold rose $6.20 to $2,028.50 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 1.15 points to 552.33 while the TSX gold index lost 0.69 point to 258.46. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today, but a few stood their ground: Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) added five cents to $2.56 on 1.78 million shares and Victoria Gold Corp. (VGCX) rose 12 cents to $6.50 on 284,000 shares. Galiano Gold Inc. (GAU) led the retreat, as it fell nine cents to $1.17 on 283,000 shares today.
Brandon Bonafacio's Nevgold Corp. (NAU) rose one cent to 33 cents on 60,000 shares on word it has issued 10 million shares to Alastair Still's Goldmining Inc. (GOLD), completing its acquisition of the Nutmeg Mountain project in Idaho. The stock covers the final $3-million purchase price as laid out in the option agreement arranged in the summer of 2022. Nevgold paid the first $1.5-million by issuing 4.44 million shares, then valued at 67.5 cents apiece, and early last year it issued 3.66 million shares valued at 41 cents apiece to cover the next $1.5-million of the $6-million payment.
