New York spot gold fell $8 to $2,021.20 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 1.02 points to 551.31 while the TSX gold index added 0.53 point to 258.99. Most Canadian gold miners strayed little today, but a few were adventurous. First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FM) lost 45 cents to $12.10 on 5.38 million shares while West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG) added five cents to 76 cents on 530,000 shares.
Scott Berdahl's Snowline Gold Corp. (SGD) rose five cents to $5.50 on 184,000 shares on word it has drilled a 382.4-metre interval grading 2.12 grams of gold per tonne in the Valley target, on its Rogue project in east-central Yukon. The zone began at surface and so did a 113-metre enhanced subinterval that ran 3.51 grams of gold per tonne. Two other new holes also returned long mineralized intervals, but with lesser grades. A second hole averaged 1.24 grams per tonne across 385 metres, aided by the uppermost 236 metres that returned 1.57 grams per tonne.
