New York spot gold fell $9.70 to $2,024.60 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 3.13 points to 546.36 while the TSX gold index dropped 2.97 points to 252.17. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today, and a few did so with vigour. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) fell 34 cents to $16.02 on 315,000 shares while New Gold Inc. (NGD) dropped another 10 cents to $1.58 on 4.05 million shares today. SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) on the other hand was strong, as it rose 19 cents to $12.85 on 863,000 shares.
Derek White's Ascot Resources Ltd. (AOT) rose four cents to 57 cents on 1.21 million shares on word it has "finalized the terms of definitive documentation" -- firmed up, in other words -- a $50-million (U.S.) financing with Eric Sprott's Sprott Resource Streaming and Royalty Corp. and Nebari Credit Fund in support of the company's Premier gold mine project in northwestern British Columbia. The financing, which had been arranged nearly three weeks ago, includes a $30-million (U.S.) royalty restructuring and a $20-million (U.S.) cost overrun facility.
