New York spot gold rose another $11.50 to $2,159.40 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.62 point to 575.53 while the TSX gold index added 2.51 points to 271.38. Most Canadian gold miners advanced today, so shed a quick tear for shareholders of Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG), which fell eight cents to $7.82 on 839,000 shares. Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV) helped prod the index higher, with a $3.06 gain to $151.09 on 675,000 shares.
Karora Resources Inc. (KRR) was strong, adding 13 cents to $4.84 on 2.55 million shares, but it had news to poke it along. The company has had a good March, rising from barely $4 at the start of the month to an intraday high of $5.06 today. There had been speculation about a possible merger with Ramelius Resources Ltd., and today the company confirmed the gossip. Karora "is currently in exclusive discussions with Ramelius regarding a potential business combination," it says.
