New York spot gold rose another $17.70 to $2,177.10 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.21 point to 575.74 while the TSX gold index added 0.79 point to 272.17. Most Canadian gold miners stayed close to home today. Among the more adventurous, First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FM) rose 35 cents to $13.30 on 4.58 million shares and West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG) rose four cents to 73 cents on 826,000 shares. New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) on the other hand lost nine cents to $4.70 on 286,000 shares.
Stuart McDonald's Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO) jumped 16 cents to $2.34 on 2.38 million shares. The company says that it and the Tilhqot'in first nation have "formally reinstated the standstill agreement for a final term, with the goal of finalizing a resolution before the end of this year." The standing still relates to "a confidential dialogue" between the two parties that began late in 2019, as they seek a long-term resolution of the conflict regarding the New Prosperity copper and gold project in central British Columbia.
