New York spot gold fell $15.40 to $2,165.10 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 0.86 point to 552.31 while the TSX gold index dipped 2.68 points to 274.50. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) was strong today. It added 24 cents to $18.24 on 527,000 shares without prodding from news. Also silent, but in retreat today was Argonaut Gold Inc. (AR). It dropped two cents to 30.5 cents on 3.26 million shares. Argonaut had been as high as 77 cents last summer, but it slumped to 21.5 cents a month ago on the latest gloom surrounding the company's Magino mine in Northern Ontario.
Brett Richards's Goldshore Resources Inc. (GSHR) rose one-half cent to 15 cents on 174,000 shares. The company is considering a major exploration plan for this year, laid out in a technical report based on an updated resource estimate for the Moss gold project in Northwestern Ontario. That calculation, revealed earlier this year, listed 39 million tonnes indicated at 1.23 grams of gold per tonne and 146 million tonnes inferred at 1.11 grams per tonne, good for over 6.7 million ounces of gold.
