New York spot gold rose $25.90 to $2,220.10 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 4.65 points to 563.39 while the TSX gold index gained 5.34 points to 290.34. Karora Resources Inc. (KRR) was among those northbound today, as it rose 24 cents to $5.08 on 1.55 million shares. Jonathan Goodman's Dundee Corp. (DC.A) lost ground today, dropping 10 cents to 96 cents on 45,000 shares. The company reported a modest loss in 2023, having "navigated a challenging market landscape for junior mining ... despite a generally robust environment for commodity prices," sighed Mr. Goodman, president and chief executive officer.
Benoit La Salle's Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) managed a modest profit last year, but it slid 81 cents to $11.66 on 1.97 million shares. Mr. La Salle, president and CEO, said 2023 was "a year of strategic growth and investment" in which the company hit or bettered its guidance. He also applauded the results of drilling at both the Boumadine and Zgounder mines at depth as being "very successful." Unfortunately, it appears investors were expecting more success.
