New York spot gold slipped $9 to $2,290.70 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell six points to 578.88 while the TSX gold index lost 2.45 points to 300.13. Most gold miners moved little on Canadian exchanges today. Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. (WPM) did drop $1.33 to $67.81 on 1.38 million shares today, while Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN) went the other way, adding 84 cents to $15.35 on 14.47 million shares.
Gregory Lang's Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) slid 38 cents to $4.12 on 1.51 million shares on word after the close yesterday that the company continues to plod along with its mammoth Donlin joint venture in southwestern Alaska. Mr. Lang, president and chief executive officer, says that the company's goals for the year "include continuing to advance the Donlin gold project toward a construction decision" as well as "maintaining a favourable reputation of Novagold" and preserving a healthy balance sheet.
