New York spot gold lost another $4.60 to $2,322.30 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 9.73 points to 575.79, while the TSX gold index added 3.07 points to 304.77. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved higher, so perhaps offer a moment of condolence for shareholders of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN), which fell 89 cents to $18.14 on 10.89 million shares today. Gatos Silver Inc. (GATO) was strong, as it added $1 to $13.84 on 38,000 shares.
Jamie Beck's Filo Corp. (FIL) lost 21 cents to $24.48 on 304,000 shares on word it has drilled some long intervals with eyebrow-raising grades of copper and gold at Filo del Sol in Argentina. The headline hit returned 0.36 gram of gold and 2.4 grams of silver per tonne plus 0.58 per cent copper across a 1,260-metre interval in the Aurora zone, but there were other long hits as well. A second hole among the eight new results yielded 0.15 gram of gold and 3.9 grams of silver per tonne plus 0.35 per cent copper over 955.2 metres.
