New York spot gold fell $17.60 to $2,301.40 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.53 points to 580.42 while the TSX gold index dropped 0.43 point to 311.78. A few gold miners with Canadian listings gained ground today. Perseus Mining Ltd. (PRU) added two cents to $1.98 on 47,000 shares. Most were in retreat, some with enthusiasm. Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG) fell 55 cents to $8.90 on 257,000 shares while GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) lost five cents to $1.34 on 966,000 shares.
Benoit La Salle's Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) lost three cents to $13.40 on 191,000 shares on word it has drilled a 4.8-metre interval grading 2,055 grams of silver per tonne at its Zgounder mine in Morocco. The headline hit came from drilling on the 2,075-metre level in the eastern zone, but there were plenty of other high-grade intercepts from the western zone at the 2,000-metre level and the central zone at the 1,950-metre level.
