New York spot gold managed a modest gain Friday after enduring a drop of over $100 this week, as bullion rose $4.10 to $2,333.30. The TSX Venture Exchange moved upward as well, adding 6.12 points to 607.95 while the TSX gold index gained 2.89 points to 325.09. was New Gold Inc. (NGD), among a minority of stragglers yesterday, added 10 cents to $2.69 on 3.46 million shares today. Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (FVI) also did well, adding 37 cents to $8.31 on 4.22 million shares.
Andre Tessier's Delta Resources Ltd. (DLTA) rose one-half cent to 14 cents on 246,000 shares on word it is acquiring an option to earn a 100-per-cent interest in the Band-Ore property, 50 kilometres west of Thunder Bay in Northwestern Ontario, from Wes Roberts's Golden Share Resources Corp. (GSH: $0.045). To acquire the property, Delta must pay $1.2-million in cash and issue $700,000 in stock, all over a five-year period. Should Delta declare a resource, Golden Share would receive up to $1-million cash as a bonus, depending on how large the resource is.
