New York spot gold rose $4.20 on Thursday, closing at $2,341.10. The TSX Venture Exchange followed bullion higher, adding 5.94 points to 614.96, while the TSX gold index rose 2.93 points to 327.91. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved higher today, but not Triple Flag Precious Metals Corp. (TFPM), which lost 93 cents to $22.35 on 553,000 shares. Endeavour Mining PLC (EDV) added 44 cents to $29.82 on 674,000 shares on word that wet commissioning of its Lafigue operation in Ivory Coast has begun. When ramped up to full production, Endeavour expects the mine will average over 200,000 ounces of gold per year over its 13-year life.

Patrick Godin's New Gold Inc. (NGD) rose 16 cents to $3.01 on 7.39 million shares. The company said after the close Wednesday that it has drilled a 217-metre interval grading 1.79 grams of gold per tonne plus 2.01 per cent copper in the K-zone high-grade porphyry target. The hit included a 31-metre stretch grading 3.67 grams of gold per tonne plus 1.85 per cent copper and another subinterval that ran 1.98 grams of gold per tonne plus 3.23 per cent copper across 78 metres. A second of six new holes into the K-zone also did well, yielding 1.03 grams of gold per tonne and 1.21 per cent copper across a 214-metre interval.
