New York spot gold rose $22.50 on Monday, closing at $2,349.20. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 4.95 points to 605.92 while the TSX gold index added 1.60 points to 326.12. Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG) managed a gain, adding 37 cents to $11 on 415,000 shares despite having nothing new to say today. Silvercrest Metals Inc. (SIL) was silent as well, but it followed most of its peers lower, dropping 43 cents to $11.76 on 614,000 shares.
Brad George's Orosur Mining Inc. (OMI) closed unchanged at seven cents on 109,000 shares. The company continues to negotiate with its reluctant co-venturers on the Anza project in Colombia. In March, Orosur cheered word of a non-binding agreement that would allow it to acquire the 51-per-cent interest in Anza currently held by its two partners, Newmont Corp. (NGT: $57.13) and Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM: $93.57). This would return Orosur to a 100-per-cent interest in the project.
