New York spot gold fell $1.80 Thursday, closing at $2,327.90. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.75 points to 571.88 while the TSX gold index added 0.16 point to 312.26. Most Canadian gold miners stayed close to home today, although Robex Resources Inc. (RBX) did add 27 cents to $2.36 on 89,000 shares. The company said late yesterday that it was boosting its 25.35-million-share placement at $2.17 per share to 50.7 million shares, doubling the $55-million sale to $110-million. Word Monday of the smaller sale sent the company's stock down 46 cents to $2.09, but the market saw the doubling as good news.

Glen Jessome's Silver Tiger Metals Inc. (SLVR) lost one-half cent to 21 cents on 313,000 shares on word that it has drilled a 79.5-mere surface-based interval grading 0.97 gram of gold and 12.3 grams of silver per tonne at its El Tigre project in Sonora, Mexico. This included a 35.4-metre stretch that averaged 1.79 grams of gold and 20.7 grams of silver per tonne in the upper portion of the hole. (Both intervals exclude a 3.8-metre void left by historical mining.) The hit was among the results from a batch of 15 holes in the company's energetic drill program at El Tigre.
