New York spot gold fell $15.10 Tuesday, closing at $2,319.20. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.76 point to 564.57 while the TSX gold index dipped 2.85 points to 314.03. A few Canadian gold miners advanced today, led by Robex Resources Inc. (RBX), which surged 41 cents to $2.78 on 52,000 shares as it carries on with a $110-million placement. Most miners struggled today, however, with Capstone Copper Corp. (CS) sliding 61 cents to $9.33 on 6.26 million shares and Centerra Gold Corp. (CG) dropping 27 cents to $9.31 on 4.06 million shares.
