New York spot gold rose $39.10 Wednesday, closing at $2,449.50. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 9.65 points to 582.58 while the TSX gold index added 7.98 points to 360.76. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher with bullion today. Hudbay Minerals Inc. (HBM) jumped 66 cents to $11.52 on 5.48 million shares while Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) rose 34 cents to $6.16 on 1.75 million shares. Neither had news today.

A few Canadian gold miners that did moved lower as a result. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) fell 17 cents to $3.40 on 10.51 million shares on a second quarter report that showed $34-million (U.S.) in net income and resulted in a one-cent semi-annual dividend. Endeavour Mining PLC (EDV) also rolled out its second quarter report and lost ground as a result. It dropped 93 cents to $30.38 on 1.66 million shares on word it earned $3-million (U.S.) in the quarter.

Glen Jessome's Silver Tiger Metals Inc. (SLVR) rose one cent to 24 cents on 267,000 shares following word that the company has drilled a 50.7-metre interval grading 142.1 grams of silver and 0.17 gram of gold per tonne at depth in the Keel zone of the Seitz Kelley vein at its El Tigre project in Sonora, Mexico. The hit was from one of 13 new holes drilled at El Tigre.
