New York spot gold fell $2.20 Wednesday, closing at $2,511.30. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.94 points to 577.28 while the TSX gold index rose 0.90 point to 375.47. Capstone Copper Corp. (CS) was strong today, adding 44 cents to $9.75 on 4.21 million shares, but SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) was not, as it fell two cents to $7.40 on 852,000 shares. Neither company has had news in three weeks. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) was a busy trader, as it rose 24 cents to $28.04 on 6.06 million shares -- also unaided by news.
Anthony Moreau and Stephen Stewart's American Eagle Gold Corp. (AE), which slid 16.5 cents to 48.5 cents on 4.73 million shares Tuesday and dropped to 41 cents this morning, ended the day up 2.5 cents to 50 cents on 4.45 million shares. The moves follow new assays from the company's NAK project in west-central British Columbia. The results are from three new holes testing the gold zone and two that probed the Main zone.
