New York spot gold fell $6.30 Tuesday, closing at $2,92.80. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 12.82 points to 555.09 while the TSX gold index lost 9.4 points to 353.83. Most Canadian-listed gold miners had a disappointing day, so applaud Aura Minerals Inc. (ORA) for its 82-cent rise to $13.67 on 117,000 shares. This is more of a bounce-back than a gain, however, as Aura traded at $14.75 just two weeks ago.

On the downside, New Gold Inc. (NGD) fell 24 cents to $3.16 on 2.98 million shares without news to drag it lower. Lundin Mining Inc. (LUN) fared worse, as it lost $1.75 to $12.23 on 8.67 million shares, also in silence. Indeed, it was a tough day all around, as Capstone Copper Corp. (CS) lost $1.08 to $8.59 on 10.05 million shares.

One company with news, Patrick Sheridan and Dan Noone's G2 Goldfields Inc. (GTWO), rose nine cents to $1.52 on 244,000 shares. The company cheered assays of up to 4.3 grams of gold per tonne across 57.5 metres at its Oko-Aremu project in Guyana. The hit, which was bolstered by a 15-metre subinterval that graded 15.3 grams of gold per tonne, came from one of 16 new holes drilled on the project. A second hole managed 3.4 grams per tonne across 38.2 metres, again aided by a high-grade portion that ran 14.7 grams per tonne over a 7.5-metre interval.
