New York spot gold rose $20.10 Thursday, closing at $2,515.30. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 2.13 points to 550.28 while the TSX gold index added 2.82 points to 352.79. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved higher today. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) added 21 cents to $4.05 on 1.26 million shares while McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) rose 49 cents to $11.82 on 50,000 shares. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) went the other way, dropping 12 cents to $6.01 on 1.05 million shares.
Dr. David Palmer's Probe Gold Inc. (PRB) leapt 23 cents to $1.50 on 1.5 million shares on word it has increased the resource estimate for Val d'Or East in northwestern Quebec. All told, the company now lists 6.73 million ounces measured and indicated and 3.28 million ounces inferred, a total of 10 million ounces spread across several deposits and classifications. The main tally, however, is the 116.7 million pit-constrained measured and indicated tonnes that grade 1.43 grams per tonne and an additional 16.23 million tonnes inferred at 1.72 grams per tonne -- 6.2 million ounces that reside in the Novador project.
